In a short plenary session, with only one point to discuss, the councilors and the mayor of San Bartolomé unanimously agreed to be part of the consortium that is created to defend and promote the protected natural space of La Geria, based on actions for its recovery, rehabilitation and preservation.
With this approval, they intend to recover cultivation areas that are currently damaged, so that in the future, as the councilor of the Corporation, Andrés Stinga, explained to La Voz, "San Bartolomé recovers its own resources". For the moment, the Plenary has approved an economic item destined to La Geria of 1,400,000 euros, although this money will not arrive until next summer, when the State grants the credit that San Bartolomé has requested for this purpose.
On Wednesday, Tías was the City Council that ratified in Plenary the statutes that will govern the consortium and this Friday, it will be Yaiza's turn, which in its plenary session plans to approve an operation of six million euros that will be destined to the protection of La Geria, through initiatives that will be carried out through the future consortium.
