Román Rodríguez visits Yaiza to address three projects that will mean 2.5 million for the municipality

There are already 1.5 million committed to the sanitation of Uga, 550,000 euros for a family respite center and another 500,000 euros for a cultural venue

The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, has described the institutional meeting with the Vice President of the Government of the Canary Islands and Minister of Finance, Budgets and European Affairs as “very productive”, Román Rodríguez, who visited the municipality this Wednesday. Both have addressed the progress of three projects for which 2.5 million euros have already been committed, with investment from the Government of the Canary Islands or allocated in the General State Budgets after the amendments presented by Nueva Canarias in Congress.

Among the first places he visited was the construction of a family respite center, for which more than half a million euros have been allocated in the regional accounts, and the construction of a cultural center in the town of Playa Blanca, with another 500,000 euros.

In addition, Rodriguez and Noda visited the town of Uga, where a sanitation work will be carried out thanks to an investment of 1.5 million euros allocated in the State Budgets thanks to the amendment presented by Deputy Pedro Quevedo.

The visit ended in the port of Playa Blanca, whose improvement and expansion work will be completed soon. “It will allow not only the improvement of maritime connections, but also the safety of operations in an installation that will be exemplary”, defended the vice president.

The mayor, for his part, thanked Román Rodríguez for his visit and his commitment "to the development of the municipality", while highlighting "the importance of cooperation between administrations to improve the lives of residents."

In addition, Noda pointed out that the City Council has advanced the drafting of the sewerage network project for the town of Yaiza. Regarding the proposal for Uga, he explained that it consists of the construction of a sewerage network with the purpose of collecting and pumping wastewater to a treatment plant. The investment is focused on the works to be carried out within the town in such a way that supra-municipal administrations, with the collaboration of Yaiza, carry out the necessary infrastructures for the conduction of the flows to a reference wastewater treatment plant.

Regarding the items that arrive from the Canary Islands, Óscar Noda explains that “the respite center is an initiative so that families can reconcile work with professional care for dependent people, especially our elders". "We know the difficulties families have in finding an affordable temporary residence and that is why we believe it is a priority to draft and execute this project aimed at meeting needs not covered by existing social resources”, explained the mayor, who also showed the Vice President of the Canary Islands the plot proposed by the City Council to build the center near the school and the CEO Playa Blanca.

Óscar Noda also emphasizes “the need to build a center in Playa Blanca that allows cultural events to be held and to put a library in conditions at the service of citizens". "It is also an ambitious project that if it demanded a greater investment we are able to assume it. We have the option of building it in a municipal building that would have to be rehabilitated or directly doing everything new”, he specified.
