Resurfacing works begin on the road linking Guatiza and El Mojón

The Councilor for Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, together with the Councilor for Roads and Works of the Teguise City Council, Eugenio Ronayna, visited this week the LZ-406 road that connects the towns of Guatiza with El Mojón, to supervise “the start of the first phase of the resurfacing works that are being carried out on this road, better known as the Santa Margarita road”.

The improvement and conditioning works of this road, which involve an investment of more than 272,000 euros co-financed by the Consistory itself and the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), will extend “during the next weeks”.

“This road, which is part of the Insular Bike Path, lacked the minimum conditions to circulate safely since it presented a significant deterioration, with huge potholes, sinkholes and even collapses of the road in certain points, so this investment is more than necessary to get it up and running and improve its circulation conditions”, explains Jacobo Medina.

From the Cabildo they add that in addition to the reinforcement of the pavement “this road will be provided with shoulders and protection against unevenness, while new vertical and horizontal signage will be placed”.

According to the Island Corporation, the Councilor for Roads and Works of the Teguise City Council, Eugenio Robayna, wanted to thank “the collaboration of the Councilor of the Public Works Area to solve the demands of the residents of Guatiza, El Mojón and Los Valles”, while hoping that “the area will continue to improve, both for the transit of vehicles and cyclists, as well as improve the connection between these towns, especially for farmers”.
