Dear colleagues and friends of the PIL,
Today, 09/16/2011, I confirm in writing and definitively my resignation from the position of Vice President of the Party, as well as from the role of Spokesperson for the same. I am therefore detached with regret from you, and for the moment from political activity.
Political activity that I started with great enthusiasm four years ago, and in which you, despite being an independent, non-affiliated, have been honoring me with different roles that I have defended with the greatest dedication, loyalty and capacity that was possible for me. In all the tasks that you have entrusted to me, I did my best to play a dignified, honorable and well-managed role, trying to make Lanzarote better and that all the 'conejeros' and especially you, colleagues of the PIL, could feel satisfied. If I made a mistake or failed in something, I humbly apologize.
I leave the party with regret because I was always convinced that with a good human team, the PIL could perfectly fight like no one else for the interests of Lanzarote. But since I arrived until now, I have seen two presidents pass and some other colleagues who left in a bad way, the PIL losing valuable people without knowing very well why. Despite how bad we have had it, I had confidence that with the new president this was going to be directed and we would make that strong, renewed, valid and capable human group to fight for Lanzarote. But unfortunately it has not been like that, now I recognize my mistake and therefore I abandon. I don't even want to delve into the causes.
They say that abandoning is for cowards, maybe I am, but I don't see the possibility of helping to change or improve this PIL, and given that impossibility it is better to resign, so as not to deceive anyone, not even myself. Some advise me not to leave it, to continue, since being as Vice President we will gradually change things, that is what I believed before, now I can no longer believe it. Since not even as Vice President I have been taken into account when making important decisions, especially the economic ones worry about the repercussions they may bring for the members of this party.
That is why I make it very clear that neither this Vice President, nor the Executive of the party has been taken into account in important decisions during this time. The decisions have been taken personally and unilaterally by the president, with advice from people outside the party's bodies. To whom everything is brought chewed and digested, if only to confirm. It is a way of functioning that I can respect but not share.
Of course, in general terms, I have to thank the PIL for the opportunity it has given me these four years to be a public official, and to all the colleagues mostly for their trust and affection. The Pil has good and enthusiastic people like Nereida, Gladys, Conchi, Emilia, Eli, Yolanda, Roberto, Ivan, Ramón, Feliciano, Juan...and so many others. To all of them my gratitude and affection.
