Puerto del Carmen has received the "Intelligent Tourist Destination Adhered 2022" distinction, issued by the State Mercantile Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies (Segittur), with a methodology from the Secretary of State for Tourism of the Government of Spain.
This distinction certifies that the Tías City Council "has started the path towards its transformation into an Intelligent Tourist Destination by carrying out a Diagnostic Report and designing an action plan for its conversion into a DTI", according to the City Council.
"In the municipality of Tías we are celebrating. After joining the Intelligent Tourist Destinations program of the DTI Network in 2020, now with this report we know how far our municipality is from complying with the methodology", says the Councilor for Tourism, Mame Fernández.
The Tourism Department of the City Council clarifies that the diagnosis offered by the report allows knowing, through a battery of requirements and indicators, "the starting point of this process." "The report includes 205 recommendations necessary to achieve the complete DTI distinction. These recommendations are included in an action plan that will become the destination's roadmap", they add from the City Council.
The work carried out by the Tías City Council, according to the City Council, has allowed to complete "the first three phases of Incorporation, Diagnosis and Strategy and planning; and advance towards phase 4 of Execution of the plan and subsequent renovation".
The Diagnostic Report indicates that the average degree of compliance with all the requirements of the DTI methodology in Tías-Puerto del Carmen is "28.6%, which places the municipality in the average of the rest of national destinations", according to details from the City Council.
Finally, the City Council explains that the requirements are ordered "in 5 lines of action" and, according to the report, the line with a greater degree of compliance is that of Sustainability, with 41.5%. Then there are the axes of Accessibility, with 26.4%; Governance, with 24.8%; Technology, with 19.1%; and, finally, Innovation, with 5.4%.
