Public transport and socio-health planning, central issues for Nueva Canarias in the Cabildo

In the plenary session held last week, matters related to the Mala Health Center and the Advanced Life Support of Tinajo and Famara were discussed.

Oscar Noda and Daisy Villalba in the plenary session

The councilors of Nueva Canarias Óscar Noda and Daisy Villalba, spoke last Friday in an ordinary plenary session in which they asked the government group of CC and PP about the state of the intercity public transport network of the island, the main topic that was discussed. A service that the mayor of Yaiza described as "clearly deficient" and made "the historical claim and concern of the municipality".

He recalled the meeting he had last week with seventeen hoteliers from Playa Blanca and Puerto Calero, in which, "they have conveyed their concern about the deficit in public transport that connects Playa Blanca, where the schedules cause numerous delays to users," explained Noda. He then asked about "the status of the new public transport specifications," recalling that "municipalities such as Yaiza proposed new routes at the time to improve the service and the frequency of schedules." The councilor also demanded that "all the actors involved be taken into account in that project in order to propose improvements in the island's public transport network."

Mala Health Center and ambulance in Famara and Tinajo

On the other hand, Councilor Villalba was interested in the news known through the press office of the Cabildo of Lanzarote about "the tender for a permanent ambulance health service for the towns of Famara and Tinajo." Thus, the Canarian wanted to know "what criteria have been carried out" to locate that service in these areas of the island; and if it "is a medicalized or medicalizable ambulance, since it is not the same nor do they fulfill the same function."

She also asked the government group about its position in relation to the PNL that NC managed to approve in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, which guaranteed "the implementation" of a 24-hour Continuous Care Point at the Mala Health Center; and a sanitized ambulance in the town of Arrieta. "The northern region of Lanzarote is helpless in socio-health and emergency care. We need to improve the service and guarantee the safety of residents and visitors," Daisy Villalba remarked.

On the other hand, the Canarian councilors have joined the committees of the Plenary of the Island Council of Lanzarote. Óscar Noda will be on the committees of Presidency, Human Resources, Internal Regulations, New Technologies, Housing, Energy and Industry; Special Accounts; and Special Monitoring of Contracting; while Daisy Villalba will have responsibilities in the committees of Security, Emergencies and Sports; Education; Publications Service; Data Center; Island Radio; Historical Heritage, Employment; Social Welfare and Inclusion; Youth, Animal Welfare, Crafts, Commerce and Consumption; and Suggestions and Complaints.
