PSOE, NC, Podemos and ASG reach an agreement to govern the Canary Islands

The leaders of the PSOE, Nueva Canarias, Sí Podemos and Agrupación Socialista Gomera, Ángel Víctor Torres, Román Rodríguez, Noemí Santana and Casimiro Curbelo, have reached this Thursday a programmatic agreement to form a government pact in the Canary Islands, as announced in a statement.

In it, it is stated that the political forces of progress commit to support the formation of a Government presided over by Ángel Víctor Torres, winner of the elections of May 26 with 25 seats, to which would be added the five of NC, the four of Sí Podemos and the three of ASG until reaching 37 of the 70 that make up the Autonomous Chamber in this new legislature, thus exceeding the required absolute majority.

According to what is stated, the agreement has been reached after a "long" meeting held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where the four political representatives took stock of the work done in recent weeks, with the exchange of different documents provided by each party.

The public presentation of this 'Agreement for a Government of Progress and Change for the Canary Islands' will take place next Saturday, June 22 in Tenerife. According to them, this is a first text where the bases of the pact are laid and that will be completed in the next few days until concluding a complete Government document by areas and specific policies.

Torres, Rodríguez, Santana and Curbelo express their "satisfaction" with the result of negotiations, which they say have been "very intense" and that start from the "full conviction" that they are "before the best agreement for the Canary Islands". Likewise, they wanted to recognize "the effort of each political force to achieve this alliance that represents a hope for the future of the islands".
