PP and CC-NC describe the minister's statements as "very serious" and will present parliamentary initiatives

Deputies from Coalición Canaria-Nueva Canarias and the Partido Popular agreed yesterday to describe as "very serious" the statements made yesterday Tuesday in Congress by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Elena Espinosa, on the use of fishing boats by illegal immigration networks based in Morocco, while announcing the presentation of parliamentary initiatives on this matter.

"Whether it is true or false, what the minister said is very serious," said Román Rodríguez, "because saying something like that, without it being verified, is a frivolity, and if there was reliable information, we still don't know what the Government has done to prevent it."

CC-NC will ask the Government a question on this issue, as confirmed mid-afternoon by the Group's spokesperson, Paulino Rivero.

For his part, the PP deputy for Lanzarote, Cándido Reguera, who was present at the Agriculture Committee but could not respond to the minister because there was no opportunity for the spokespersons to reply, stated that his group would ask the Ministry of the Interior "if it is aware of what was stated by the Minister of Agriculture".
