Just as it did this Monday in Arrecife, the PP has also presented a motion in the Tías City Council so that the Corporation analyzes the possibility of contracting electrical energy with the company that wishes to do so, given the liberalization of this market. From now on, each company can set the price it deems appropriate for the volts it supplies to homes and businesses. The popular formation has considered that the Consistory can take advantage of offers and discounts offered by these companies in order to save a good sum of money.
This was stated by the PP spokesperson in Tías, José Francisco Hernández, who has proposed to the City Council that it study the possibility of putting out to public tender the electricity supply consumed by the institution. "The Consistory is attractive to the different supplying companies and with this measure, expenses can be minimized to have resources for other items," Hernández stated.
Furthermore, the PP spokesperson considered that for electricity companies, having a City Council as a client is "a guarantee," so he assured that if the offer is put out to public tender, "proposals will not be lacking." "The large area of the municipality and the existence in it of population centers such as Tías, Puerto del Carmen, Mácher, La Asomada, Conil, and Masdache, among others, are an attraction for suppliers," he emphasized.
Feasibility reports
For his part, he recalled that this initiative will not only affect public lighting, but also the supply of electrical energy to the central headquarters of the Consistory, and to sports, cultural, educational, or police facilities.
Therefore, the PP has asked the City Council to carry out the necessary reports to determine the feasibility of this initiative.
It should be remembered that the electricity companies that currently operate in Lanzarote are Endesa Energía XXI S.L. (Unelco), Iberdrola Comercializadora de Último Recurso SAU, Unión Fenosa Metra SL, EON Comercializadora de Último Recurso SL, and Nexus Energía SA.
