Podemos criticizes that the Cabildo intends to hire an island director to “support the Presidency”

The formation understands that "this position should be amortized to strengthen other areas of primary need such as Social Services or Agriculture and Fisheries"

The Podemos group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote has lashed out against the call for a “selection process to fill the position of island director to support the Presidency through free designation”, according to a resolution that was made public in the BOP this Wednesday.

According to the purple formation, "the functions that said island director should perform are “practically the same as those performed by the five presidency advisors who have already been appointed since the beginning of the legislature." "These advisors, who receive more than 36,500 euros annually each, are also joined by the chief of staff, Carlos Espino, who receives a remuneration of 45,600 euros and three journalists who make up the press office", he adds,

"The positions of island directors are technical positions that should be occupied by senior officials to coordinate areas that, due to their complexity or situation, need extraordinary support, so we do not understand that a position is burned in simply supporting the socialist president”, says Myriam Barros, spokesperson for the group in the Cabildo. .

For Podemos, "there are areas that need that special support more urgently, such as Social Services, the Primary Sector or Local Commerce." “Vulnerable families are being neglected due to the saturation of social services and the local economy needs a lot of impetus to get out of this situation”, Barros emphasizes.

For all this, the Cabildo government group, made up of socialists and populars, is urged "to rectify this decision and manage the priorities of the administration diligently." “While there are so many families waiting for an appointment in social services and businesses closing every day, it is absurd that the priority is to hire more people for the president's office”, they conclude from the purple formation.
