The Popular Party of Lanzarote joins the commemoration of International Women's Day advocating for an open, plural, and free feminism, in which all women have a place “without labels or ideological impositions”.

The island president of the Popular Party, Astrid Pérez, has stressed that “feminism does not have a single thought, nor a single face, nor a political color”. In this sense, she defended that real equality between men and women “does not belong to any party or any specific ideology, but rather is a common cause that should unite all of society”.

Pérez insisted that the advance towards effective equality “is not built from confrontation or from the imposition of a single vision of feminism”, but from respect for each woman's freedom to decide her own path. “Women do not need anyone to tell us how we should think or act to defend our rights. Equality is strengthened when the plurality and freedom of all are respected,” she pointed out.

From the Popular Party, they recall that equal opportunities between women and men constitute one of the fundamental pillars of their political action. For this reason, on this March 8, they wanted to recognize all women who, from different fields, contribute every day to the progress of society: those who undertake and lead business projects, those who stand out in the academic field, those who carry out their professional work in hospitals, companies, shops, the tourism sector, industry or the countryside, as well as those who sustain the well-being of their families with their effort and dedication.

The island president also wanted to focus on one of the challenges that still persist: work-life balance. “Many women continue to be forced to choose between their professional development and motherhood due to a lack of real alternatives. As a society, we must advance so that no woman has to give up her life project,” she stated. In this sense, the Popular Party defends the need to promote policies that facilitate work and family reconciliation, improve access to family support resources, and recognize motherhood as an essential contribution to society as a whole, never as an obstacle.

Finally, Astrid Pérez reiterated the Popular Party's commitment to real and effective equality that translates into opportunities, freedom, and respect for all women. “March 8 should serve to recognize what has been achieved, but also to continue working for a society where every woman can advance without barriers and without anyone trying to appropriate her voice,” she concluded
