Pedro Viera positively assesses the National Police deployment during the Arrecife Carnival

The operation, designed to prevent crime and maintain public order, has led to the arrest of 22 people, 4 of whom are related to crimes against public health

Pedro Viera, Director of the General State Administration in Lanzarote, has assessed as "positive" the performance of the National Police during the security deployment carried out on the occasion of the Arrecife Carnival, highlighting "the efficiency and professionalism of the agents to guarantee public order and citizen security."

The operation, designed with the aim of preventing crimes, maintaining public order and complying with the Anti-Terrorism Prevention and Protection Plan, has led to the arrest of 22 people, of which 4 are related to crimes against public health.

In addition, the agents have drawn up 157 reports for possession of narcotics and 12 for disobedience to authority. Throughout the festive days, 276 people have been identified and 19 interventions have been carried out in fights, in addition to acting quickly and diligently in a reported sexual assault.

The presence of the National Police in the area where the carnival events have taken place has been fundamental to guarantee the safety of the attendees, minimizing incidents and preserving the normal development of the celebrations.

The Director wanted to highlight "the commitment, coordination and dedication of the deployed agents, highlighting the importance of their work so that citizens can enjoy the festivities in a safe environment."

“The operation has more than met the objectives set, contributing to the Carnival having taken place normally and with a notable reduction in serious incidents,” said Viera, thanking the National Police for their effort and dedication.
