Pablo Yebra, candidate for Mayor of San Bartolomé

With a packed Casa Cerdeña and with the presence of one of its undisputed leaders, Luis Campos, Nueva Canarias (NC) endorsed this past Friday afternoon the last of its candidacies for the city councils of the island of Lanzarote. Thus, the Local Committee of the Canaristas in San Bartolomé unanimously supported the candidacy of Pablo Yebra for Mayor of this municipality for the upcoming elections on May 28.

The party points out that "Yebra is a social activist through and through and a tireless worker in public health in Lanzarote, advocated in his speech for humanizing institutions and for making San Bartolomé a truly united municipality that cares for its residents.”

Among the lines defended by the NC candidate and his Local Committee in San Bartolomé, Pablo Yebra highlighted various improvements in Health, Education, the recovery of the primary sector and aspects such as universal accessibility, inclusion and common living spaces.

The aspiring Mayor of San Bartolomé was preceded in the use of the word by the current national spokesperson of Nueva Canarias and spokesperson for the Canaristas in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Luis Campos, who had words of recognition for the work that is being carried out "this group of women and men who one day, although with some doubts, decided to take a step forward.” "We are a committed formation with loyal people who want and will manage to change things, improve the quality of life of our neighbors," Campos highlighted.

Municipal representation of NC in San Bartolomé

The national leader, aware of the current affairs and reality of Lanzarote and very linked precisely to the municipality of San Bartolomé by personal ties, urged to "continue working as until now to the increasingly large group of people who are part of this Local Committee - the second to be formed after Arrecife, and which was followed by the rest of the committees of each municipality on the island". Campos supported the social work and the demanding nature of Pablo Yebra and was convinced that NC "will obtain municipal representation in the next elections in May."

The organic head of the Canaristas highlighted the "favorable evolution of the organization in the Canary Islands and, despite its youth as a formation on the Island, its exponential growth in a few years." Thus, he gave as examples the beginnings of the party in islands such as Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Tenerife. Campos also dedicated part of his speech to the achievements made by NC in the years in which the Canaristas have had government options. In this sense, he praised the work of the state deputy for the province of Las Palmas, Pedro Quevedo, and achievements such as the 75% bonus for passenger transport and 100% for freight transport.

He also highlighted the weight of the only councilor that Nueva Canarias has in the current Government of the Canary Islands, the current vice president, Román Rodríguez, who is also the president of the party. He valued the work of the also Minister of Finance during the crisis generated by the COVID pandemic and in the complicated situations of the business fabric of the Canary Islands, in addition to the effort of Román Rodríguez "so that Lanzarote returns to be the third island in investment in the Canarian Budgets" and so that "finally La Graciosa has real and executable budget items, differentiated from those of Lanzarote."

The act concluded with an illustrative family photo of the components of the Local Committee of NC in San Bartolomé. With the proclamation of Pablo Yebra as a candidate for Mayor of San Bartolomé, the Canaristas have already completed their candidacies for the 6 city councils of Lanzarote, having added to the Canarista-NC Bloc the incorporation of the Renovating Movement of Tinajo (MRT) of Antonio Morales and also waiting for the negotiations with Unidos por Yaiza (UPY) and Óscar Noda to bear fruit soon.
