Óscar Noda takes office as mayor of Yaiza with a comfortable absolute majority thanks to the support of CC

Óscar Noda was elected as mayor of Yaiza this Saturday with a comfortable majority by virtue of the support of the eight councilors of his party, Unidos por Yaiza ? Lanzarote Avanza, and the four votes of the councilors of Coalición Canaria, the two political forces that from now on make up the southern government group.

In his investiture speech, Noda was "ambitious and committed" so that Yaiza "is the spearhead of the most modern Lanzarote", an objective shared by Ángel Domínguez (CC) who will hold the first deputy mayorship.

The mayor, who thanked on behalf of UPY ? LAVA the majority support of the residents of Yaiza and the trust of his new government partner, also highlighted that "the new political scenario should serve to empower our citizens, make them happier and give them options to achieve their goals".

"We are going further"

Óscar Noda pointed out "transcendental advances" achieved in Yaiza in recent years such as the sanitation of municipal accounts "with zero debt", the approval and development of the General Plan or the execution of the plan of works and services, among other initiatives. "But we are not satisfied with that and we are going further. This government group wants Yaiza to be a benchmark of public management committed to social welfare, with our territory and environment and with modernity," he said. In addition, "to achieve new challenges," he added that two parties have joined "with political trajectory, ideological affinities, experience and the will to improve this municipality."

The mayor also valued in his speech the "effort" of the municipal staff, that of the citizens and that of "all the productive sectors committed to the welfare of Yaiza." "We know that we live in a municipality with an important surface area and with enormous economic potential. But what we are especially proud of is each and every one of our neighbors. Of all of them. And of their extraordinary diversity. We have neighbors from more than 190 nationalities, from all regions of Spain, from all the Canary Islands and, of course, from all the municipalities of Lanzarote. We are all united by the desire to find better levels of quality of life for our families, our neighbors, in the best social and labor environment," he said.

Words of thanks to Gladys Acuña

"The polls have spoken, so now it is in our hands to develop the necessary policies so that this municipality reaches the levels of quality of life that our neighbors want and that we are obliged to give them. These four years will be fundamental to give that leap in quality and welfare that we want," added the mayor.

Óscar Noda has thanked the work of the councilors who have governed in Yaiza and those who have been and will be in the opposition. He also had words of special thanks to the president of UPY, former mayor and former parliamentarian, Gladys Acuña. "Because we must be grateful to the people who have helped us build our project, who have taught us to work and have encouraged us to fight for a fight as fair as Yaiza," he said
