Óscar Noda accuses the island government of "misgovernment" and lack of commitment to the problems of Lanzarote

The Mixed Group advisor criticizes Betancort's absence in the plenary session, the rejection of his motions on housing, water, and energy, and denounces the lack of responses to citizen groups.

"It's not the first time that the feelings after a Cabildo plenary session are bad, because in this legislature the misgovernment of CC and PP is starting to be more than suspicious. They are incapable of addressing essential issues for well-being and looking after the good of the Island," says the advisor of the Mixed Group, Óscar Noda González, who after the rejection of two of his motions in the last session, "without minimally convincing reasons," denounces the lack of debate on housing, management of the integral water cycle, or implementation of renewable energies. On water, in particular, he recalls that "we are still waiting for the investment of 90 million to solve the supply problems that the population suffers."

Noda also points to Betancort, not only for his role as "a mere moderator of speaking turns in the plenary sessions," but also for his absence in the session held on September 26: "this way we can understand a little more about the respect he has for the Island and for those who pay his fees." For the councilor in the opposition, "Lanzarote's politics have to change, the population demands fewer words and more forceful actions focused on solving the problems suffered by the average citizen. Turning your back on reality is betraying the citizens who, with their vote, trust in the responsible action of public representatives."

Óscar Noda states that "the spectacle has reached such a point that, in addition to the absence of the president, the absence of councilor Jesús Machín Tavío was also noted, so there was no majority, forcing the government group to leave out a point, the one referring to the updating of the plenary session's operating regulations. More of a mess is impossible."No answers for the citizensÓscar Noda assures that the president's absence occurred precisely on the day that members of the Valterra and Titerroy housing association attended: "the president shies away from debate and does not feel like listening to residents. He ignores everyone without giving a clear answer to their concerns and demands." Noda denounces "no for the sake of no" to issues of citizen interest that he proposed in the form of a motion. "CC and PP voted against the requested investment for the undergrounding of power lines and the dismantling of towers, and they also said no to the 10 million euros to co-finance the construction of the 136 affordable rental homes in Playa Blanca, a project that demands an investment of 50 million, where the Government of the Canary Islands and the Yaiza City Council are committed," adds Noda, who underlines "the cynicism of the Cabildo to cite the project of the 136 homes in press releases when its political leaders have not moved a paper nor has the Institution put up a penny, but of course, to take photos they were the first to get close to the president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, and the Minister of Public Works, Pablo Rodríguez."
