Olivia Duque leaves the Secretariat of the CC Committee of Teguise, which Javier Díaz assumes

The mayor leaves the position to "focus one hundred percent on her responsibilities" in the City Council

The Local Assembly of the Canarian Coalition in Teguise unanimously ratified this Thursday the appointment of Javier Díaz as the new local secretary, on a temporary basis, until the National Congress, the island and local congresses are held, presumably in 2025.

The decision is made after the resignation presented by Olivia Duque, who leaves the position to focus one hundred percent on her obligations as mayor of the municipality, taking into account, in addition, that the statutes of the nationalist formation include the incompatibility between both positions.

“I am going to continue working with my committee and collaborating with all the affiliates and supporters who are part of it; but, as mayor, I must assume that I have to dedicate one hundred percent of my energy to resolving and responding to the needs of all our neighbors”, Duque said, pointing out that “fortunately, in the party we have a great team of people prepared to work from the organic part and who will now be led by colleague Javie Díaz”.

Díaz, on the other hand, in addition to being a councilor in the Teguise City Council, is the current Secretary of Organization. His automatic move to occupy the position of local secretary implies the modification of the entire executive committee.

New Executive Committee

Local Secretary: Francisco Javier Díaz Gil.

Secretary of Organization: Adrián Villalba Ribayna.

Deputy Secretary of Organization: Pilar Herrera Muñoz.

Executive Secretary of Internal Communication: Míriam Jorge Camejo.

Executive Secretary of Organic Communication: Elías Rodríguez Armas.

The Canarian Coalition Assembly in Teguise appointed Olivia Duque as local secretary in August 2021 and with her a whole group of people that Duque herself has defined as “an example of teamwork and unity, which will continue working to consolidate one of the projects with more muscle at the island level”.
