The Local Committee of Nueva Canarias of Teguise regrets the words of a councilor of Coalición Canaria (CC) in the municipality, when he admitted in a television talk show that "he shares the same ideals as his government partner Vox."

For the secretary of organization of the party in Teguise, Belén Machín, “the words of the councilor certify the drift of this political organization that many Canarians understood as nationalists and, many of those who militated in the PIL, felt close to the localist postulates.”

However, for Machín, the "turn of CC in the past local elections by agreeing with the extreme right of Vox" means that "they have renounced any ideal of Canarian and Lanzarote obedience”. The Canarian continues that “the Canarian nationalist values and insularists prevent any pact with a party that defends the outlawing of territorial parties, that does not believe in self-government and the territory's own culture, and that excludes people according to their sexual, gender and origin reason”.

“The CC of 8 or 10 years ago would never have renounced these values that made it a broad and diverse movement,” says Machín, who believes that “they have disappointed many people in the municipality who believe in the need for parties that defend the idiosyncrasy and Canarian identity.”

In the same way, the Canarians add that this "loss of values" makes them a "party without clear ideas and projects", as expressed by the justification of the current mayor when saying that the town halls are simply "to fix lampposts and sidewalks".

And it is that, for Machín, “not even what they supposedly prioritize they know how to do well, since there are many lighting, mobility and cleaning problems that Teguise maintains”. “With this thought towards what local policies are, we are not surprised by the little desire and effort they put into the transformation of the municipality, being the government group of the eternal "Estamos En Ello"
