New machinery is acquired to improve the services of the Agricultural Farm in Lanzarote

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has acquired new machinery to improve the services of the Agricultural Farm on the island. The Island Council, through the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, will improve the services provided by the Experimental Agricultural Farm with a new tender to acquire specialized agricultural machinery. This investment aims to modernize and expand the work equipment, improving the mechanization of work on the island's farms.

The president of the Island Corporation and head of the Department of Agriculture, Oswaldo Betancort, points out that the new machinery will allow "to modernize and expand the material resources available on the farm, "improving the mechanization of different tasks and facilitating essential work on the fine farms of Lanzarote, also allowing to optimize the productivity and quality of our crops".

The tender, co-financed by the Canary Islands Development Funds (FDCAN), includes the supply of two chives planters; a potato planter; two sweet potato planters; a sweet potato digger and a pineapple sheller, all specially designed to work in sandy and enarenados soils. The investment amounts to 63,500 euros.

Oswaldo Betancort points out that this investment "demonstrates our commitment to the primary sector". "Modernizing and expanding the machinery of the Experimental Farm will allow our farmers to work more efficiently and sustainably," he explains.

Among the services offered by the Experimental Farm of the Cabildo is the mechanization of agricultural tasks, such as sanding and the management of sandy soils, using tractors of various capacities and their respective implements. To continue improving these tasks, it has been decided to acquire new machinery, replacing obsolete equipment and expanding the availability of tools.
