The Department of Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has launched the acceleration lane of the LZ-20 at the entrance to Arrecife. This intervention aims to reduce "considerably" the traffic collapse.
The vice president and head of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, assures that it was a work "necessary and demanded by all citizens."
"We have already begun to see the positive results during peak hours of the day, where long queues used to form and now, thanks to the fact that vehicles circulating on the adjoining road can join the main road, that traffic jam has been considerably reduced," he adds.
Medina explains that this work has only been the first phase to improve access to the Molina Orosa Hospital. "After this investment of almost 40,000 euros, we continue to execute the improvement of access to the Los Cuarteles roundabout, which is already in an advanced state, and for which we have invested 600,000 euros," explains the vice president.
In addition to these two phases, the Public Works area is currently working on drafting a project to beautify the accesses to the Hospital, with new garden and shade areas. "We will completely transform access to the island's main health center, improving mobility and achieving a new image of its surroundings," said the vice president.
Jacobo Medina congratulated the company Herederos de Juan Acuña S.L, who executed the work, "for the speed with which they carried out the intervention," and again apologized to the citizens for the inconveniences that may have been caused while the work was being carried out.
The project "Acceleration lane on LZ-20 from service road, P.K. 0+550" is a project financed by the Canary Islands Development Funds (FDCAN) corresponding to the year 2023.
