NC: "The Arrecife government group represents a public danger to the general interest"

The Canarian nationalists see in the "exorbitant expenses and inaction in the vital affairs of the city an irresponsibility that mortgages the future of the citizens of Arrecife"

The president of Nueva Canarias in Arrecife, Servando Pérez

The Local Committee of Nueva Canarias (NC) in the municipality of Arrecife, through its local president, Servando Pérez, wanted to convey its "discomfort and concern" about the latest information on the city council's expenses in events and celebrations that "exceed all responsibility and public exemplarity".

According to Servando Pérez, "from NC we have remained prudent in these months of legislature with respect to the information that has come to light about the expenses in events and celebrations from the Arrecife City Council, with more than 6 million euros in less than a year of legislature. We did not want to engage in populism or demagoguery with this issue, but it is becoming worrying," they added.

For the party, "the use that is being made of the economic resources of all the people of Arrecife is being irresponsible and not very exemplary." The Canarian nationalists continue that "it is not logical to spend more than half a million euros in a day and a half for an event without roots, and with a procedure of dubious rigor such as the excessive use of minor contracts."

"We believe that the city council cannot dedicate its main task to being a promoter of events that, although they generate an economy for a very specific sector, do not solve the current problems of the capital, much less prevent the future," says Pérez, who "is not against generating economic dynamism," but "not at the cost of plundering public coffers and mortgaging the future of new generations."

From Nueva Canarias they consider that "this irresponsible drift of the government group is not only dangerous, but also generates a bad image of the capital that reminds us of the worst times of politics in Arrecife." "These behaviors are beginning to represent a public danger to the general interests of the people of Arrecife. We ask the government group for prudence and responsibility in the management of public affairs," says Servando Pérez.
