Nueva Canarias has denounced the "incapacity" of the Arrecife government group, which according to the party is leading to important investments destined for the capital ending up going to Playa Honda. The latest example, according to NC, is that of the business incubators that had been pending for four years, and that will finally be built in the neighboring municipality.
The party recalls that in 2010, the Ministry of Industry of the Government of the Canary Islands signed an agreement with the Cabildo of Lanzarote to develop four business incubators for an amount of 1,200,000 euros. At that time, Sergio Machín was the Minister of Industry of the Cabildo, "who indicated that Arrecife was the most suitable place for the construction of these incubators".
From NC they point out that "to achieve that agreement, all that was needed was the land". Therefore, the Arrecife City Council committed to provide it, ceding some plots for 15 years, which would later become municipal property.
Specifically, the City Council ceded land in the Puerto Naos area, "but the Government of the Canary Islands argued that it was not suitable, so we suspect that from that moment there was no intention for these incubators to be built in the capital", Nueva Canarias maintains. And the party considers that "partisan interests" are prevailing to benefit the San Bartolomé City Council, where the same CC-PSOE pact governs as in Arrecife, the Cabildo and the Government of the Canary Islands.
Another project that "flew" to Playa Honda
"Another proof of that political agreement is that the open commercial area that was already planned in Granada street in the Altavista neighborhood was never executed, and the project flew to Playa Honda, a work inaugurated last month", NC insists.
In addition, regarding the business incubators, they recall that the Arrecife Plenary adopted a unanimous agreement for them to be finally located in the Partial Plan of the Action Unit Number 12 Maneje-Altavista, on the land that corresponds to the City Council. "Our surprise", NC criticizes, "is that these days the news breaks that the Cabildo of Lanzarote signs an agreement with the City Council of San Bartolomé for the construction of two incubators, in accordance with the agreement signed between the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, by which the aforementioned incubators will be located in the industrial area of Playa Honda, in two plots of 662 and 651 square meters, respectively".
In addition, they add that San Bartolomé has received 300,000 euros from the Cabildo of Lanzarote for a sports space, so they "congratulate" this City Council, "which has the sufficient ability to take away what corresponds to Arrecife due to the inability of its rulers".
And all this, according to NC, because "the partisan agreements of CC-PSOE are above the interests of the citizens of the third capital of the Canary Islands".
