The Minister of Public Works, José Blanco, stated this Saturday that normality will return to Spanish airports in 24 or 48 hours "if the controllers do their job", after the Council of Ministers approved and launched this morning the State of Alert decree, which mobilized civil controllers under military command.
"Normality is beginning to recover, there are already flight plans and there are enough controllers in the control rooms", José Blanco specified in statements to Cadena Ser collected by ACN Press. "Let's see if normality is consolidated in the shift change", said the Minister of Public Works.
Blanco stressed that the presence of air traffic controllers in the control rooms and towers "is sufficient" to restore normality in flights. "They have been gradually joining during the morning and we hope that this presence will be consolidated in the next few hours," he said, while "he is not aware" that any controller has been arrested or accused of refusing to comply with his work, after the entry into force of the Decree.
