The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, together with councilor Alfredo Mendoza, attended the Feast of the End of Fasting, Eid Mubarak, corresponding to the end of Ramadan, together with the Muslim community of the Island.
Corujo highlighted "the great attendance at this festival", more than 2000 people, and emphasized the "large community" of Muslims residing in Lanzarote and the importance "that multiculturalism represents in achieving a more egalitarian and complete society. An opportunity to express affection and respect to our Muslim community. Together we build a diverse and plural Lanzarote that is enriched by the contribution of customs and ways of being of those who are also Lanzarote residents today”
The community expressed their gratitude and the pride that the president's attendance at this Festival represents, highlighting that she is the first president of the Cabildo to accompany them on this important date.
“Thank you for sharing such an important day for our community, seeing you here, president, fills us with pride, you symbolize integration and a plural Lanzarote,” they concluded in their speech.
