Manuel Fajardo Feo (CC): It is Cándido Reguera's lack of leadership that creates instability

The CC spokesman in the Arrecife City Council, Manuel Fajardo Feo, pointed out this Tuesday after the resignation of the mayor Cándido Reguera (PP) that his concern is that in the plenary session called for this Wednesday the former mayor speaks of resigning due to the instability generated and that "it is his lack of leadership that creates the instability."

Fajardo Feo pointed out that Reguera will have to give explanations as to why he is resigning and that "he may have lost the confidence of his government group." He assured that he hopes that the acting mayor will convene a new plenary session in 24 hours to elect a new mayor, and that he will run for that position.

After Reguera's resignation, the new acting mayor, Nayra Callero, must convene a plenary session to elect a new mayor within a maximum period of ten days. Everything indicates that the new mayor will be Fajardo Feo, with the support of the PSOE and Alternativa Ciudadana.

For her part, the spokesperson for Alternativa Ciudadana, Blanca Blancas, whose formation was necessary to sign a motion of censure against Reguera together with CC and the socialists, told ACN Press that Reguera's resignation is "a strategy to delay things further."

Popular Party

The president of the PP of Lanzarote, Astrid Pérez, said, regarding a possible motion of censure, that "this shows that it is a strategy by CC and PSOE to remove the PP from all institutions" and pointed out that in just five days there have been changes in three different corporations. "I didn't expect it to be so soon," she assured.

Pérez said that the PP has only renounced the mayoralty but that it intended to maintain the government pact with the PSOE in the capital, although the socialist councilors have presented their resignations this Wednesday. Regarding Reguera's resignation, Ástrid Pérez stated that "if they are going to censure you, it is an elegant gesture to resign that characterizes the PP and not the rest of the parties."
