As had been rumored for weeks, Mame Fernández became the candidate of Nueva Canarias for the Tías City Council this Thursday. After leaving Coalición Canaria and handing over his seat as councilor this week, Fernández has finally joined the ranks of the formation. This Thursday the official presentation of his candidacy for the Tías City Council took place, which will be led by the former Tourism Councilor of the municipality.
The candidate Mame Fernández was accompanied by the local president of NC, Manu Aboy, the local secretary, Óscar Fernández, and the island president of the party, Alejandro Díaz, as well as the entire local committee, affiliates, supporters and neighbors.
"Apologies" to the citizens
After his incorporation into Nueva Canarias became public, Fernández has sent a letter to the citizens of Tías, in which he is "fully convinced" that in his new party, "from freedom and democracy", he will be able to "work" for the municipality.
In that letter, the candidate refers to his departure from Coalición Canaria, highlighting that it put "all kinds of difficulties" in his way to "exercise politics" and for not "bowing to the dictatorial and bossy directives of the ‘boss’".
Fernández explains to the residents that both he and "a good number of historical nationalist militants" have been "forced to leave that organization", for which he asks for "apologies" and their "sure understanding of the decision taken", while thanking them for their support.
