This year the Poster contest for the Teguise Carnival 2007 has been won by Begoña Izarra from Bilbao. Entitled "Los Diabletes" is inspired by the traditional figure of Teguise: the diablete, which embodies the male goat, symbol of virility and fertility. Image of the popular tradition of the mixture of aboriginal beliefs with Castilian elements and witchcraft connections born especially since the late fifteenth century.
Begoña has added the tower of La Villa in the background, to locate it even more and has managed to conquer the jury, and it has not been the first one she conquers because with her 30 years, she has already managed to win two consecutive years the poster contest of Puerto del Carmen and once the one of Playa Blanca.
She finished last year her second course at the School of Art of Pancho Lasso and recognizes dedicating more time to configure the idea and the sketch, which she draws first in pencil and then goes to ink, than she dedicates to treat it with the design program with which she retouches the details of brightness, texture and light.
She declares that the prize for her, in addition to the 600 euros, is fundamentally "the joy that people like what I do".
