Loli Corujo breaks the silence: CC created the conflict and is the one who must resolve it

The general secretary of the PSOE in Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, broke this Tuesday the "prudent silence" that she claims to have maintained since the conflict with CC began in the Cabildo, where Pedro San Ginés continues to govern in minority since the beginning of the legislature, despite the pact signed with the socialists. "This conflict has not been created at all by the Socialist Party. It is an interference and a conflict created by the Canarian Coalition, and it will be the Canarian Coalition that has to find the solution to this problem, guaranteeing the stability of the institutions", Corujo pointed out on Radio Lanzarote – Onda Cero.

The socialist leader was referring to the dismissal of the head of the PIOT Office, Leopoldo Díaz, agreed by San Ginés just before delegating the areas to those who were going to be his government partners, and in particular that of Territorial Policy. "Everyone knows the situation we are experiencing and what we are not going to do is to be justifying and responding systematically or entering into a discussion. In my opinion, some have spoken too much and I understand that these issues are resolved where they have to be resolved", Corujo pointed out.

Thus, she has made it clear that the socialists maintain the same position that was expressed in the press conference offered at the time by the Secretary of Organization and spokesperson for the PSOE in the Cabildo, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, and that they will not join the government group until there is a rectification from San Ginés. And it is that she considers that that dismissal ordered by the president was "an absolutely unacceptable interference", given that precisely the dismissed official depended on an area that corresponded to the PSOE by virtue of that pact.

"Not everything is valid"

"Not everything is valid. Not everything is valid to enter a government and occupy a councilorship or councilorships when you do not have autonomy to make decisions on those areas that fall to the Socialist Party in this case", stressed the general secretary of the party. "No one who has placed their trust in the party that I have the pride to lead can feel in any case neither ashamed nor disappointed about the decisions we have adopted and that we are going to continue adopting in matters of territory and in matters of the general interest of the island of Lanzarote", Corujo warned.

Thus, although she has pointed out that there are "many, many problems that this island has and the Socialist Party is very eager to lead the solution of them", she has insisted that the one who has in his hands to resolve this conflict is the Canarian Coalition. "We have always made it clear. The government pact must be based fundamentally on respect and loyalty to its partner. And in this case, in the Socialist Party we have not felt respected in any case nor have we seen loyalty in this unilateral decision directed by the president of the Cabildo".

"When one governs, when one co-governs, one has to start from loyalty, respect and autonomy when making decisions, because if not, the pacts would not exist", insisted the also parliamentarian and mayor of San Bartolomé. In addition, she stressed that both in the Canarian Government and in the rest of the institutions where that pact between CC and the PSOE has been signed, including the City Council that she presides, the alliance "works perfectly". "There has been no problem and there is no reason why there should be", she pointed out. However, this has not happened in the Cabildo and also in the City Council of Haría, which was left out of the cascade pact between both forces.

"The PIOT Office has been practically dismantled"

The island secretary of the socialists has also recalled that "no one is hiding what has been the historical position that the PSOE has maintained in terms of territory and in defense of legality" and has questioned that "in recent years", under the Presidency of Pedro San Ginés, "the PIOT Office has been practically dismantled", the last step being the dismissal of Leopoldo Díaz.

"It seems that the professionalism of those, whether officials, lawyers or politicians, who defend legality is dismissed, persecuted and questioned. And it seems that it is intended to protect and justify those who violate it. And you already know what the position of the PSOE is going to be and what it is going to continue to be", she warned.

In addition, she has also questioned the judicial problems that the Island Corporation faces. "The attitude and impulsiveness of the president, and also his deficient legal support, have recently led us to judicial resolutions with damage to the island of Lanzarote, for the people of Lanzarote, irreparable. And I am talking about the seizure of the desalination plant, I am talking about the Cueva de los Verdes and we could talk about many more reasons", she detailed.

Even so, she has reiterated that the PSOE "has a firm commitment to respect the signed pact", although she has insisted that the one who must resolve this crisis is the Canarian Coalition, "which knows what the solution is". Meanwhile, she has made it clear that the socialist councilors will continue without joining the government group.
