Lawyers from the Legal Practice School support Mayandía and ask for his dismissal to be revoked

They highlight his work at the head of the National Police station in Arrecife: "Lanzarote needs Luis Mayandía here"

Lawyers from the School of Legal Practice support Mayandía and request the revocation of his dismissal

Lawyers from the Legal Practice School of Lanzarote, who received classes from the former commissioner of Arrecife, Luis Mayandía, wanted to show their "unconditional support" and convey their "rejection, indignation and concern" for his dismissal, which they consider "harmful" to the island.

The eleven students who signed the letter believe that Mayandía has managed to "give a total and absolute turn to the work of the National Police of Arrecife, getting this body to position itself as one of the most effective and honest agents in the fight against crime and drug trafficking." This group of lawyers also highlights his "presence and continuous participation alongside citizens" and his "awareness and prevention work", which "reached the people of Lanzarote who perceived the island's National Police as a close and useful ally in the fight against crime in our society."

Therefore, they consider Mayandía's dismissal as commissioner "an error", "an honest leader, dedicated to his work, a great professional and a better person", wishing that the decision be revoked. "Lanzarote needs Luis Mayandía here," they say. This is the full text:

Letter from the students of the Legal Practice School in defense of Luis Mayandía

"The group of lawyers signing below wishes to express its REJECTION, INDIGNATION and CONCERN for the dismissal of our commissioner D. Luis Mayandía Fernández, as well as our unconditional support and desire to revoke this decision, which is so harmful to Lanzarote.

Since his arrival on this island, Luis Mayandía has managed to give a total and absolute turn to the work of the National Police in Lanzarote, getting this body to position itself as one of the most effective and honest agents in the fight against crime, drug trafficking, etc. His presence and continuous participation alongside citizens, in the media, teaching conferences, meetings with Hotel Directors of the island, was already giving results. His awareness and prevention work reached the people of Lanzarote, who perceived the island's National Police as a close and useful ally in the fight against crime in our society.

But not only has the perception that the people of Lanzarote have of this body improved thanks to the work of Luis and his team, but also the relations and results with judicial bodies and other police forces were optimized and improved, an ABSOLUTELY STRATEGIC and VITAL achievement for coexistence on this island. And all this, thanks to an honest leader, dedicated to his work, a great professional and a better person who is D. Luis Mayandía.

The loss of Luis in Lanzarote is causing significant social concern and a worrying level of uncertainty in the population and social agents. We understand that the possible error committed by Luis (we do not know if this has been the case, but obviously we all make mistakes) should be weighed against the results that he brings to Lanzarote, and if so, we are sure that Luis Mayandía would continue working and helping this island, already very affected by corruption and crime, to continue improving.

We earnestly request whoever it may concern, to value his reinstatement in view of the social reaction that his dismissal has produced. LANZAROTE needs Luis Mayandía here. His dedication, vocation, closeness, ability to reconcile and efficiency are assets that we cannot lose so arbitrarily.

Finally, we express our hope that this situation will be redirected and that we can continue working, collaborating and moving forward side by side with Luis Mayandía at the head of our police station in Arrecife."
