Lanzarote launches healthy talks dedicated to seniors on the beaches

The Aquabeach sessions will be held on the beaches of Guacimeta, El Reducto, Puerto del Carmen, Las Cucharas, Caleta de Famara, Playa Dorada, Caleta de Sebo, Caleta de Caballo and La Garita

Prevention talks 'For a safe summer'

The Senior and Intergenerational Relations Area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, a department headed by Councilor Nori Machín, has devised a series of healthy talks given by professionals and aimed at people who participate in the Aquabeach sessions, novel activities that are part of the Active+Vital Rejuvenation Plan.

The Councilor for the Senior and Intergenerational Relations Area of the Cabildo has thanked both the Security and Emergency Consortium and the Lanzarote Red Cross for their collaboration in this series of talks For a safe summer, where some basic notions of healthy prevention will be raised for use during the summer.

Thus, these talks given by experts will have an approximate duration of half an hour; and in them the participants will learn about issues related to caring for their skin against solar radiation or the importance of proper hydration. In addition, our seniors will perform practical exercises in the event of possible choking or learn to execute the lateral safety position, used in emergencies after an accidental fall. “The point is that, in a simple way, we can provide them with useful tools to make their lives healthier, while they then carry out the Aquabeach activity,” says Nori Machín.

For his part, the president of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, Francisco J. Aparicio, has valued this initiative as “highly necessary in the summer season we are in. We will always be involved in any event and activity that requires a minimum of security, as well as to give all the necessary talks and courses that promote the prevention of possible accidents at sea.”

'El Aquabeach', a success

The launch a few weeks ago of the Aquabeach activity, which is part of the Active+Vital Rejuvenation Plan, has been a success by combining the benefits of physical exercise and the necessary enjoyment of people in a natural environment such as the beaches.

The Councilor for the Senior and Intergenerational Relations Area has recalled that this event is held on nine beaches in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, “programming an open and modern proposal, faithful to our policy of promoting active and healthy aging aimed at the population”, he highlights.

Like the Aquabeach sessions, the new preventive talks For a safe summer will take place during the month of August on the beaches of Guacimeta (day 13); El Reducto (13); Puerto del Carmen (14); Las Cucharas (16); Caleta de Famara (16), Playa Dorada (19), Caleta de Sebo – La Graciosa (20), Caleta de Caballo (21) and La Garita (22).

Finally, Councilor Nori Machín has reiterated “the Cabildo's determined will, and so often recalled by this Area, to multiply efforts in coordination with the town councils to offer our seniors the quality leisure they deserve”, she concludes.
