Lanzarote equips 150 workers of the "Caring for Lanzarote and La Graciosa" plan with new material

The Cabildo of Lanzarote delivered last week the new work material and clothing to approximately 150 people who are part of the employment plans that make up the program "Caring for Lanzarote and La Graciosa, co-financed by the Canary Development Fund (FDCAN). The endowment includes vests, banners and other elements that respond to the new corporate image of these teams, in an action that reinforces their visibility and professionalization in the performance of their functions.

The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted the relevance of the program both from a social and environmental point of view. "Lanzarote and La Graciosa are cared for, preserved and promoted," he said. He also stressed the value of the project not only in improving the environment, but also as a tool for labor insertion. "This program, which stars dozens of Lanzarote residents, fully responds to the identity of a Biosphere Reserve. In addition," he added, "I hope that during this time you will achieve new job opportunities so that you have a stable job, because that is our desire."

The vice president and head of the Area of Planning and Coordination of Projects, María Jesús Tovar, explained for her part that the FDCAN has financed this material. "From line 3 of this year's strategy, we have allocated 48,000 euros for this acquisition, which is as demanded as it is necessary for the workers of this employment plan," she asserted.

The Minister of Employment, Jesús Machín, thanked the effort and commitment of those who make up the different work lots of the program. "We are proud of the work you are doing to take care of our island," he said. He also valued the new corporate image as an element that dignifies and makes the work of these workers even more visible. Apart from the dissemination of the action, with the acquisition of booths, the workers of the program can be sheltered in times of inclement weather, and with the reflective vests increase visibility.

"Caring for Lanzarote and La Graciosa"

The program, co-financed by the Canary Development Fund (FDCAN), has an investment of 13.6 million euros, and allows intervention in key areas of Lanzarote and La Graciosa such as the environment of the Zonzamas Environmental Complex, secondary roads, beaches, the coastline, public buildings, urban areas, as well as emblematic enclaves such as La Geria, the Volcán de la Corona or the island of La Graciosa itself.

The program is divided into eight specialized work lots, focused on the maintenance, cleaning, waste removal, improvement and beautification of different enclaves of the island, both in rural and urban areas. This ensures not only the care and improvement of the environment, but also the hiring of some 150 unemployed people, favoring their insertion into the labor market and contributing to the sustainable development of the territory.
