The Councilor for Acts, Events, Sports and Activities of the Arrecife City Council, Juan José López, has presented the resignation of his position as councilor in the capital's town hall.

The departure of the current Sports Councilor has forced the Arrecife City Council to decree an urgent extraordinary call for the plenary session to take note of his resignation as councilor. In addition, next Monday during the celebration of the plenary session, his departure will be official. As La Voz has learned, the letter of resignation was presented this past Sunday, September 1, for "personal reasons".

With the departure of Juanjo López, three people from the Popular Party have resigned from the Arrecife City Council. First, the then mayor Astrid Pérez did so to become president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands; after her, her number two María Jesús Tovar resigned to take the position of councilor in the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

In addition, the nationalist Pedro San Ginés also left his position in Arrecife to become a senator, as well as José Montelongo, who left the council to become the new director of the School of Social and Health Services of the Canary Islands.
