Juan Ramón Pérez: The education situation is somewhat complex and I know that the responsibility I assume is very great

"The education situation is somewhat complex and I know that the responsibility I assume at this time is very great." This is how Juan Ramón Pérez Borges expressed himself, after being appointed the new island director of Education in Lanzarote. A position he assumes after having been in charge of the Directorate of the IES of Teguise.

Pérez Borges has indicated that his priority at this time is that the school start is done "with total normality". "On the 7th, the Primary students join and on Tuesday the 13th the rest of the students. I believe that an excellent planning work has been done in this regard and the most immediate thing is to have the certainty that the start of the course will be done with the normality that corresponds", he pointed out.

In this sense, the new island director of Education has assured that "practically one can have one hundred percent certainty" that "the teachers will be in the centers" on the day of the start of the school year. "Hundreds of teachers have already been appointed to cover loose ends that were pending and they will continue to be appointed", he specified. Likewise, regarding the transport and dining services of the centers, Pérez Borges has also affirmed that "they are guaranteed" and that he does not believe that there will be "any difficulty".

Collaboration between administrations

Pérez Borges has also referred to the electrical situation of the Mercedes Medina, Capellanía, Titerroy Adolfo Topham schools. "I have maintained contact with Manuela (Armas) and I know that she is monitoring the electrical installations of the four schools. I do not want to get ahead of anything, but I know that the technician who was there has practically finished the file and it does not seem that the solution will take long".

The new island director of Education has pointed out in this sense that "collaboration and coordination between administrations is essential". "The debate about who has the powers should have already been overcome".

Pérez Borges has publicly thanked the until now island director of education, the nationalist Juan Cruz, for facilitating the transfer of functions. In addition, he has put on the table that he will also try to find solutions to the situation of the Arrecife School of Languages, as well as to the execution of the therapeutic pool. "The situation now is complicated, but the project is there. It is excellent and necessary", Pérez Borges pointed out on this last aspect.
