Faced with the threat of a strike and accusations of "inefficiency and neglect" directed by the Professional Association of Taxis to the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the Minister of Transport, Juan Pedro Hernández has responded by assuring that "the Transport Inspection Service of the First Institution of the Island is carrying out an intense and broad action"

Similarly, Hernández emphasizes "the exhaustive and rigorous control" that he claims has been carried out, in joint action with the Traffic Civil Guard and the Local Police of the tourist municipalities, of all the complaints filed by the Taxi Association, "even appreciating that said control is periodic and constant and does not exclusively obey the fact that these claims have been presented."

Specifically, and according to the councilor, in the first semester of this year 152 inspections of regular passenger transport have been carried out, of which 141 corresponded to vehicles and public service companies and only 11 to complaints made to private service vehicles. After these controls, 56 have generated their corresponding infraction report for presenting different irregularities.

Within the actions carried out by the Transport Inspection Service of the Cabildo, Juan Pedro Hernández highlights "the total eradication of public transport of minibuses owned by a company subject to continuous complaints by taxi drivers, regardless of the opening of 11 sanctioning files to the same".

In addition, he also maintains that "the verification of all companies and services that carry out tourist transport to the Teguise Market has been carried out, detecting that some do so legally in the form of discretionary public transport, while others presented irregularities, so, after warning them, the corresponding infraction report was drawn up for individualized sale of tickets, with the company committing to eradicate this practice".

Hernández also points out "the specific controls in Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen, checking the legality of the services provided by the hotels and their transfers of clients to the beach, as well as the departure and return of tourists to the airport" and, among other things, "the punctual monitoring of commercial excursions, better known as "manteros", following a protest from AETUR, and the action, based on a complaint from the taxi sector, in an apartment complex in Costa Teguise".
