Jorge Quintero has resigned as councilor of the Teguise City Council, more than a year and a half after leaving the PP and joining the group of non-attached members. "It's normal and what I should have done a long time ago," PP councilor Rita Martín told La Voz. This position will now be occupied by the president of the PP Local Committee in Teguise, Jonay Díaz.

Quintero left the PP group in the Consistory in February 2012 and decided to join the group of non-attached members. At the time, he sent a statement to the media explaining that he left the PP because they "proposed a three-way agreement to censure the mayor", Oswaldo Betancort. What he never clarified is who proposed this alleged motion of censure, nor when, nor why he left the PP on the same day that the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, broke the pact with the popular party.

The PP councilor in Teguise, Rita Martín, has valued this resignation, which "will restore normality in the PP in La Villa". "The most benefited will be the residents of the municipality, because they voted to have four PP councilors and for us to do our opposition work," Martín said. "I think it's important news for the PP," she insisted.

Martín has always demanded that Quintero "return the minutes" of councilor. "He hasn't worked because he hasn't asked questions or motions. He has only voted in favor of the government group," she criticized.
