The candidate to preside over the Cabildo of Lanzarote for the Popular Party, Jacobo Medina, believes that the island institution cannot continue to ignore the need that exists on the island for areas where motorhome users can practice this form of leisure in complete normality.
"We have to be aware that the number of fans of this form of leisure does not stop growing in Lanzarote and that we cannot continue to turn a deaf ear to their requests, especially when enjoying the beach with the family is part of our own idiosyncrasy", defends Medina.
For this reason, the candidate for the presidency advocates opening the Papagayo campsite throughout the year while the Island Territorial Planning Plan is approved and the camping areas that are needed in Lanzarote are enabled.
"In 9 years, Pedro San Ginés has had more than enough time to promote the PIOL and support the demands of the motorhome group in Lanzarote, but all they have received are long delays and unfulfilled promises." "What cannot be is that we are surrounded by sea on all sides and that we cannot enjoy it", says Medina.
In the last year, motorhome tourism has increased by 30% and is becoming a form of family leisure that is not limited only to the summer or holidays but extends throughout the year, regardless of the fact that it is also part of the complementary tourism that the island can offer.
"Having a perfectly equipped campsite as we do, it is absurd that it remains closed for most of the year, with a real demand also existing. We want it to be available 365 days a year and to be regulated so that there is a temporary limitation that prevents the stay from becoming permanent", points out the candidate for the presidency of the Cabildo.
