Jacobo Medina announces the tender for the works on Calle José Betancort in Teguise

The Minister of Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, intervened this Thursday on the program Onda Cero – Radio Lanzarote, where he provided a broad overview of the main actions being promoted by his department, both in terms of road infrastructure and urban improvements and social projects on the island.

During the interview, Medina announced the **tender for the improvement works on José Betancort street**, in the municipality of Teguise, which will affect the stretch between San Francisco square and Bentejuí street, with a **budget exceeding one million euros** and an execution period of six months, highlighting the importance of this action for the safety and accessibility of the historic center

The counselor also announced that the road from La Caleta to the town will be open to traffic this Friday, once the road surface rehabilitation works are completed. Likewise, he reported on the awarding of the contract for the road connecting Yaiza and El Golfo. He emphasized that the Canary Islands Government has allocated a budget of 1.5 million euros for this project.

In terms of road planning, Jacobo Medina also confirmed that the **works on the Guatiza–Mala road and the road connecting El Peñón with La Vegueta have already been awarded**, which will allow work to begin shortly on both sections, improving connectivity and safety in these areas of the island.In addition, the counselor announced the drafting of the project for the road connecting Masdache with El Peñón, an action that will allow for rigorous planning of the future improvement of this road axis, taking into account safety and functionality criteriaFor the first time, Medina highlighted that the Cabildo of Lanzarote is carrying out a planting of more than 12,000 poinsettias in all the roundabouts on the island, along with the installation of Christmas decorative elements powered by solar panels, a pioneering initiative that combines public space beautification and energy sustainability

Likewise, he announced the awarding of a specific study to identify and plan bicycle lanes on the island, with the aim of moving towards more sustainable, safe, and orderly mobility, integrating bicycles into the island's road network.

Medina also highlighted two actions of special social relevance, such as the Tahiche Senior Residence and the work known as La Cruz Blanca, projects he described as "priority and necessary" and which represent a fundamental advance in improving socio-health care and social resources in Lanzarote.

The counselor concluded by stating that "we are following a clear roadmap, with real projects, secured funding, and actions that reach all municipalities, improving both infrastructure and the quality of life of our neighbors."
