The workers of the Insular Hospital call for new strikes: They lied and continue to lie

The workers of the Insular Hospital and the socio-sanitary establishments of the Cabildo of Lanzarote will carry out three daily stoppages starting next June 29. This was announced by Intersindical Canaria this Thursday, pointing out that it will be an "indefinite strike", during which these three daily stoppages of 20 minutes each will be carried out, although they do not rule out "going on a full-day strike in the three shifts" if the Government group of the Cabildo "does not start to comply with the agreements".

The statement from Intersindical explains that in the last assembly of workers of the Insular Hospital, on June 9, the Health and Social Welfare Committee was "urged" to call that strike, due to "breach of the agreement". They assure that they have been "forced" to exercise their right to strike "due to the inefficiency and ineffectiveness of CC, PSOE and PIL, the Government group that does not want to meet the demands of the workers". And they ask for "understanding and collaboration from users and citizens".

In this sense, they point out that they have decided on these 20-minute stoppages as a form of strike, the same one they chose when they announced their previous strike last January, "because they understand that the user should not be blamed for the incompetence of the government group". These stoppages will be in the morning shift from 12 to 12.20 hours, in the afternoon shift from 18.15 to 18.35 and in the night shift from 22.30 to 22.50 hours.

"They have lied and continue to lie"

The statement from Intersindical Canaria lists all the demands of the workers, explaining that they have decided to go on strike "for not including in the budgets the remuneration concepts that they are owed, because they still do not provide the reports for them to be paid, because they still do not stabilize the staff, because they still do not cover the vacancies due to retirement, as is evident again in the budgets for 2016".

"This Government group, which says so much that it is committed to the public system, is actually leading to the privatization of services, as already happened with the laundry and as will happen shortly with the cleaning of the kitchen", they denounce, while regretting that "they do approve in what they 'simulate' an RPT to justify and be able to pay the 'friends' of the Cabildo, but they cannot or do not want to justify how to pay the staff what is owed, what corresponds to them by Agreement". "These are the parties that, legislature after legislature, have lied and continue to lie to the workers", they conclude.
