Inés Rojas inaugurates in Tías a conference aimed at workers and experts in municipal social services of Lanzarote

The Minister of Social Welfare, Youth and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, Inés Rojas de León, and the Mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, have inaugurated this Friday a training day on the new telematic systems of the Government of the Canary Islands to meet the needs of citizens in social matters and in immediate connection with the social services of all the municipalities of the Canary Islands.

Rojas has explained the main lines of this modernization process and has highlighted new spaces such as the electronic headquarters, the user service portal on the Internet, through which both citizens and companies, associations and administrations can make inquiries and carry out procedures that until now were carried out in person. In this way, displacements and waiting lines are avoided in the corresponding offices, according to the Government of the Canary Islands in a statement.

"With this pioneering initiative in the Canary Islands Administration, it is possible to improve direct attention to citizens since it makes it possible, through the Internet, to carry out procedures and provide documentation that until now was only possible to do in person, avoiding displacements and waiting lines, we save economic costs and time for users and decongest direct attention", Rojas defended.

Another service that the Ministry has launched is that of "Social Agents in Network", and which already has more than 1,000 professionals registered. "This is a new tool that will change the way of communicating and working among those who are dedicated to Social Services in the Canary Islands", the counselor assured.

Communication between professionals

"This tool will make it possible for all social agents working in the Canary Islands to manage relevant information about the priorities in the different aspects covered by public services, about the expectations and preferences of citizens, about their level of satisfaction and about the possible areas of improvement in those units with which they relate", Inés Rojas insisted, who assured that it is an "integral and bidirectional" system in communication, since the social worker will be able to "communicate directly and resolve their doubts with the experts in each area of the Ministry".

Rojas also highlighted the gradual implementation of the social file, a documentary support that will allow having a single file for each applicant for social services and that will improve both the work of social workers and the information of citizens who request a benefit.

"The file allows to unify in a single file all the data of each applicant for the services, it serves so that the social workers who will work in network, regardless of the municipality where they are, can develop intervention programs through family files and with all the updated and accurate information for the application of standardized social scales", he pointed out. Rojas highlighted the advantages of this new service that "on the one hand, allows improving the accessibility of information and guidance to the citizen, as well as information for professionals and institutions".

The 112

"It simplifies management and administrative processing to improve agility in care and greater comfort, decentralizing and bringing management closer. It also allows the improvement of the coordination of services, the speed and efficiency of the intervention and the exploitation for statistical purposes of the data for better planning and programming", assured the counselor of the Government of the Canary Islands.

The information telephone 012 constitutes the fourth axis with which access to the files of citizens will be facilitated from any point of the Canary Islands through a telephone call

The conference has been organized jointly with the FECAM and will be taught throughout the month of March in the rest of the islands with the aim of training the workers of the social services of all the Canary Islands town halls and showing the multiple possibilities that these new telematic services can mean to improve and speed up the attention to the citizens.
