Health confirms the works to expand the Emergency area of the Tías Health Center

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has confirmed to the Tías City Council that the current Tías Health Center will be renovated and expanded to offer better assistance to patients and users.

The Consistory has received this commitment in a meeting held recently between the director of the Lanzarote Health Area, Erasmo García, the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, and the deputy mayor, Amado Jesús Vizcaíno. This meeting, held at the Tías Health Center facilities, was also attended by the infrastructure managers of the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands.

According to the forecasts that the heads of the Infrastructure Area of Health of the Canarian Executive have transferred to the Tías City Council, the reforms and extensions will be undertaken in the last quarter of this year and in the first months of 2019. The director of the Health Area in Lanzarote, Erasmo García, has informed the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, that the Ministry of Health is currently preparing the architectural projects for this expansion and reform, which is expected to be tendered in autumn, for its execution at the end of this year.

A pergola to shelter from the weather

The Tías City Council had requested, on several occasions, the need to expand the waiting area in the Emergency area to offer patients better care and stay. Among these improvements that the Health Department will undertake, together with the Emergency unit, is the construction of an overhang in the gardens and entrance as a pergola, which will allow patients to shelter "from inclement weather and on days of tests, where many citizens go to the health center before its opening hours to the public".

The confirmation of these improvements in the Tías Health Center joins, according to the City Council, the recent news also from the Ministry of Health, which announced that it will undertake expansion works in the Puerto del Carmen clinic. A second floor will be built in this building so that doctors can offer better care to the main population and tourist center of the municipality of Tías.
