The Haría Town Council is moving forward with the modification of the General Plan to facilitate the construction of homes and curb youth depopulation, with the approval of a Minor Modification of the General Municipal Planning Plan (PGOM). This modification, whose objective is to allow the creation of new homes, will make it easier for young people to settle in the town.
The town of Haría is the only one benefiting from this measure, which reduces the minimum plot size for housing construction from 1,000 to 500 square meters. Mayor Alfredo Villalba explains that this initiative is key to making it easier for families who own urban land to segregate their plots, allowing them to build new homes. "The initiative will not only allow the creation of new homes, but will also help our young people not have to leave Haría due to a lack of building land," he says.
Depopulation is one of the main challenges facing Haría. With the reduction of the minimum plot area, the City Council hopes to reverse this trend and encourage young people to take root in the municipality. "We want the new generations to be able to settle here, which will also strengthen the community and economic life of the municipality," said the mayor. The economic revitalization will be evident, with a positive impact on local commerce, increased school enrollment and the creation of a more dynamic environment.
In addition, this measure is not speculative, since the land is intended for local residents, which guarantees that population growth is balanced and sustainable.
In this way, the consistory trusts that the final approval of this modification of the PGOM will occur during the first four months of 2025, which will allow the necessary actions to improve the well-being of the inhabitants of the municipality and ensure growth to begin as soon as possible.
