Floods in Lanzarote: how and where to report damages to receive help

The president of the Cabildo meets with the expert from the Insurance Compensation Consortium to carry out a general assessment of the damage caused by the torrential rains

Meeting of the President of the Cabildo of Lanzarote with María José Leal

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, accompanied by the manager of the Security and Emergency Consortium, Enrique Espinosa; the mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque; the deputy mayor of Arrecife, Echedey Eugenio; and the councilor for Security and Emergencies of the capital, Kevin Cortés; met this Tuesday with the expert sent by the Insurance Compensation Consortium, María José Leal.

At said meeting, the website of the Insurance Compensation Consortium was made known through which those affected can report the damages caused by the floods of this Saturday, www.consorseguros.es. In addition, citizens have three more ways to report all damages: going to the office of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, located on Tenderete Street S/N; calling 928 80 40 04; or going to the two affected town halls. Betancort reminds all citizens that affected residents should contact us to find out the identity and extent of the damages caused to all affected people, in order to expedite assistance.

"We have acted quickly, in coordination with the affected municipalities, to be able to offer assistance as soon as possible to the residents who have lost everything due to the floods," said the president, who again thanked the collaboration between the competent bodies to, in a joint way, "find solutions for those affected as soon as possible."

The manager of the Security and Emergency Consortium, Enrique Espinosa, said for his part that this meeting "was essential to speed up the procedures for the affected families." "We remain at the disposal of the town halls and people who need any type of help to be able to return to normality as soon as possible," he asserted.

After the meeting, the president accompanied the expert to the two affected municipalities, to see firsthand the state of the homes, premises and streets most affected by the floods.

"From the Cabildo of Lanzarote we continue working, in a coordinated manner, to recover the lives of people as soon as possible. Yesterday I said that when water enters the door of a house, it directly enters their private life, and we from the First Corporation must be with them to help them in everything possible," concluded the president, Oswaldo Betancort.
