The electoral coalition formed by the Nationalist Party of Lanzarote?New Canary Islands and Option for Lanzarote (OPL) has designated Fernando Melián as candidate for mayor of Tías.
Fernando Melián, 34 years old, is a municipal employee in the Cadastre Department, president of the Labor Personnel Works Committee and member of the Municipal Health Council of the South area.
In addition to his work as a public employee, the party emphasizes that "he is a person strongly linked to the world of sports, specifically in his role as a soccer coach. In this section, he has been coach of the Sporting Club de Tías, Atlético Tíense, Unión Sur Yaiza and currently manages the youth team of CD Orientacion Marítima".
According to a statement, Fernando has "a special motivation for improving services in the Public Administration, especially in terms of its operation and organization of which he is a deep connoisseur." They also state that "he has taken multiple courses related to the Administrations, such as Human Resources, One-Stop Shop, Management and territorial planning instruments and also on budgetary structure".
Melián believes that "it is possible to print a political regeneration in Tías, which gives new air and impetus to the municipality, where paralysis is the predominant hour after 16 years of socialist government." "It is time to change the ways in Tías and govern for all citizens, whether they reside in Puerto del Carmen, Masdache, Conil, Mácher, La Asomada, Tegoyo or Tías, since they all have the right to receive the same services and attention," he concludes.
