Fabián Martín announces that the works on the promenade between Los Mármoles and Puerto Naos will be awarded before the end of the year

The promenade project, which has a budget of two million euros and runs approximately two kilometers from Puerto de los Mármoles to Puerto Naos, will be awarded before the end of the month, according to the Vice President of the Cabildo, Fabián Martín. According to him, the terms and conditions of the tender to execute the project will be published tomorrow, Wednesday, November 5, in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.

Puerto Naos

In addition, following the traffic accident that cost the life of a five-year-old boy last Saturday after the vehicle in which he was traveling fell into the water in Puerto Naos, Fabián Martín has assured that the transit of vehicles in the port "will be limited when the Fish Handling Industry opens, which we hope will be before the end of the year," he said. Thus, the Vice President of the Cabildo argued at the same time that "the port authority has been unresponsive to the requirements made from Lanzarote," in reference to controlling access to an area whose control depends on Ports.

The ring road

On the other hand, Fabián Martín has insisted on the criticisms made by the Party of Independents of Lanzarote, which this Monday accused the Government of the Canary Islands of acting "with neglect and disinterest," in relation to the works on the Arrecife Ring Road. Thus, Martín assured that the existing patrimonial impediments were resolved favorably at the end of 2007, but that since then "we know nothing about the state in which the project is in Madrid."

For this reason, Fabián Martín assured that the regional councilor will be required to "urge the tender for this road," which, according to reports, supports a daily traffic of 36,000 vehicles. In addition, he added that in the peninsular territory, roads that support more than 4,000 vehicles a day "are already being doubled." "In the ring road we have a ratio 9 times higher and we support it in a municipal infrastructure."

In relation to the press release made public on Friday by the Company Committee of the Cabildo, in which it asked that the government group also tighten its belt in the face of the crisis, with a package of measures that, among other things, included a 20 percent reduction in the salary of the councilors and their advisors, Martín declared that from the First Corporation "we are always open to any plan to cut spending," although he clarified that they have not yet held any meeting in this regard.
