Political parties and public institutions have wanted to show their sorrow for the death of Marcos Páez and have transmitted their solidarity and condolences to the family and friends of the former councilor of the Cabildo. Páez died last Saturday at the age of 64, victim of cancer, which he could not overcome.
Coalición Canaria, the party to which Páez belonged in recent years, after leaving the PIL, wanted to remember the former politician, while expressing solidarity with his relatives. The president of CC, Claudina Morales, has expressed her sorrow for this death and has lamented "the sad loss of a politician who during his twelve years as councilor in the Cabildo stood out for his work to preserve and promote the fishing sector of the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa".
CC wanted to recognize, through a note, the effort of Páez both during his time as councilor of the Cabildo, as well as when he was chief patron of the Fishermen's Association of La Graciosa.
The Partido Popular has also joined this sorrow and its president, Astrid Pérez, has conveyed her deepest condolences to the family of the deceased, of whom she highlighted his "commitment and work in favor of the fishing sector". In this same sense, the Cabildo of Lanzarote has spoken, which has recalled his work in the area of Fisheries of the first institution.
From the Ayuntamiento de Teguise they have also remembered Marcos Páez and have shown their sorrow for this death. Likewise, they wanted to apologize through a statement for not being able to attend the funeral this Monday at 1:00 p.m. in La Graciosa, due to the suspension of boats due to adverse weather conditions.
Local councilors are scheduled to be at the funeral mass that will take place in the coming days, when the maritime transport service is restored, as indicated in this note.
