Education studies the reorganization of the school map in Yaiza

The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Gonzalo Marrero, traveled to the Lanzarote municipality of Yaiza to meet with local authorities and management teams in the area in order to reorganize the school map of the municipality. The population increase experienced in Yaiza in recent years has raised the need to "prioritize and prioritize" the new infrastructures of public schools based on the budgetary criteria of the Ministry, as reported by the Government of the Canary Islands through a statement.

To carry out these measures, the Executive will set an order in the execution of the expansion works, reform and new educational plant, as well as the planning of activities in this municipality.

Accompanied by the territorial director of Education of Las Palmas, Julio Gutiérrez and his island counterpart, Juan Cruz, Marrero visited the Secondary Education Institute (IES) of Yaiza and, later, toured the unitary school of Uga, one of the three in the municipality and in which its quota was expanded with two more classrooms.

Visit to schools

The rest of the schools, two more, are located in the towns of Mararía, in Femés, and in Las Breñas. These unitary centers have registered a strong increase in the number of enrollments, mainly due to "the quality of education that is taught and the teachers that make them up", according to the Canarian Government.

Marrero has also had the presence during his tour of representatives of the Playa Blanca City Council, who have shown him the old school, whose construction dates back to 1979. Currently, the school center welcomes a total of 701 students and 43 teachers. "This school has been expanded on several occasions thanks to the gradual increase in students in the area," they reported in the note. Likewise, this City Council plans to build a school canteen.
