Education incorporates 70 new places in the dining rooms of three schools in Lanzarote

In addition to the places in these three centers, the recovery of the service in the CEIP Guenia, also in Teguise, will be added, which resumes its service after being inactive since the 2020/2021 academic year with another 40 places

The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, directed by Poli Suárez, will reinforce the school dining service in Lanzarote this 2025/2026 academic year with the incorporation of 70 new places in three Infant and Primary schools (CEIP) —Las Breñas, Mararía and Nazaret— and the reopening of the dining room in the CEIP Guenia.

According to the planning carried out by the General Directorate of Center Administration, School Enrollment and Complementary Services, coordinated by David Crego, the maximum number of places
authorized in these centers will be distributed as follows: 15 diners in the CEIP Las Breñas, in Yaiza, 19 in the Mararía, in the same municipality, and 24 in the Nazaret, in Teguise.

In addition to the places in these three centers, the recovery of the service in the CEIP Guenia, also in Teguise, will be added, which resumes its service after being inactive since the 2020/2021 academic year with another 40 places, which
will allow to respond to the needs of 30 students of Infant and Primary, as well as the 10 of the two-year-old classroom.

The implementation of these dining rooms has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the town councils of the municipalities involved and the investment made by the area directed by Poli Suárez to provide and adapt the kitchen and dining room equipment. In this framework, 5,967.75 euros have been allocated to the CEIP Las Breñas, 6,963.56 euros to the CEIP Nazaret and 5,909.61 euros to the CEIP Mararía, which will guarantee a safe, modern and quality service for students and their families.

On this particular, David Crego highlighted that the incorporation of these new places “responds to the will of the Ministry to bring the dining service closer to more families on the island, especially in the
rural areas, guaranteeing equal opportunities for students and facilitating the reconciliation of work and family life.”

The general director added that “the priority is to guarantee that each dining room place responds to criteria of equity and efficiency, optimizing the available resources to reach the largest possible number of
students”, while recalling that “this reinforcement in Lanzarote is one more step in the strategy that we are deploying in all the islands and a way to reinforce our support for the unitary schools.”

With the incorporation of these new places on the island of Lanzarote, the Ministry of Education "reaffirms its commitment to the progressive extension of complementary services in the educational system in the islands, ensuring that more and more students can access benefits that reinforce their well-being and comfort, while providing support for many families in the organization of their daily lives."
