The Lanzarote Water Consortium, made up of the Cabildo and the seven Town Councils, "has not received any communication, meeting request or proposal" sent by the so-called Lanzarote Water Board regarding the situation of the integral water cycle in Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
"Given that the people or entities that make up this group are unknown, the Water Consortium wants to address the representatives and members of the aforementioned Board through the media to invite them to transfer their proposals to the Consortium through official channels," they state.
"At the moment we only know that several press releases have been sent about the situation of the integral water cycle to some media outlets, but they are not signed by anyone, nor does any representative or spokesperson's telephone number appear," according to the Councilor for Water and Vice President of the Consortium, Domingo Cejas.
"The Water Consortium, considering that transparency in public management is key to maintaining the trust of citizens, informs the representatives of the Citizen Water Board that Councilor Domingo Cejas will be available to its members to hold a meeting on November 26 and 27, at 09:00, at the Department of Water, at the headquarters of the Cabildo of Lanzarote," they report from the Administration.
Domingo Cejas points out that at that meeting “they will be able to present their demands and proposals, and we will inform them of the report issued by the Consortium manager on the situation of water emergency, as well as the measures proposed in the reasoned request that will be transferred for that declaration to the Insular Water Council, the body competent for its approval.”
The Water Consortium is fully available to the aforementioned Citizen Water Board to modify, if necessary, the date of the meeting or the time of the call for said meeting.
