Déniz has approved the General Port Plan in the plenary session held this Friday

The General Plan of the Port of Arrecife has been approved this Friday, in the ordinary plenary session of the City Council. The mayor, María Isabel Déniz, has included this item on the agenda, although members of the opposition do not approve the approval. "María Isabel Déniz is in a hurry to approve the PEPA, since she has to respond to commitments because the project of the Port Plan benefits particular interests, since 90% of the investment is private investment", said Andrés Barreto, councilor for Citizen Alternative.

For its part, the Popular Party assures that the General Plan of the Port of Arrecife cannot be approved until the approval of the revision of the General Urban Planning Plan is carried out, "because it is the only document that would allow introducing the land modifications that are necessary in which the PEPA is based", commented, for La Voz, María Dolores Luzardo, councilor for the popular group.

Luzardo has also assured that the Arrecife Port Plan is based on the modifications that were proposed in the Basic Adaptation, "which is where the land modification was included, from industrial land to consolidated urban land and the general port system, and in that Basic Adaptation errors of substantial land modifications were detected". María Dolores Luzardo has also added that in the plenary session they will warn all the other councilors that the approval of this plan could incur an illegality due to these errors detected in the Basic Adaptation.

"There are signs of manifest illegality with the approval of the plan due to inadequacy with respect to the General Plan, due to inadequacy of the Basic Adaptation and due to non-compliance with the Ports Law", sentenced, for La Voz, Andrés Barreto, member of Citizen Alternative. Barreto also assures that the mayor will not allow citizen participation in the plenary session, despite the fact that several organizations and individuals have submitted allegations to it.
