Cs denounces Acuña's "plug": It is regrettable to reward a disqualified person with a position"

Ciudadanos has questioned this Thursday the hiring of Gladys Acuña as advisor to the Social Welfare area of the Teguise City Council. "It is regrettable that a person disqualified by the Stratvs case is rewarded with this position," the party denounces in a statement, thus recalling the firm conviction that weighs on the former mayor of Yaiza for crimes of prevarication.

"From Ciudadanos we are in favor of strengthening the social services of the City Council but, although we do not doubt the technical profile of Mrs. Acuña, we believe that this hiring has more to do with cronyism and the cronyism policy of CC", said the coordinator of the orange formation in Teguise, Raquel Hernández. In this regard, it should be remembered that the former mayor of Yaiza tried to run in the last elections on the CC list to the Parliament of the Canary Islands, but Justice prevented her from doing so precisely because of that disqualification sentence.

"Everything indicates that it responds to partisan interests," Ciudadanos now says about Acuña's hiring at the Teguise City Council. In its press release, the party points out that it has always defended that the advisors of an institution must have "technical profiles, regardless of political colors", and especially in the area of Social Welfare, which "in this situation of health and economic crisis, must be very well cared for".

Therefore, beyond Acuña's status as a lawyer, she believes that her appointment was made based on other reasons.

Finally, as a proposal to face the current crisis situation, the coordinator of Ciudadanos has proposed "a 30% reduction in the salaries of councilors and advisors, and allocate this money to social policies, as other municipalities in the Canary Islands have already done, such as La Laguna".
