The lawyer Cristina Duque has left her position as legal advisor to the Arrecife City Council after being appointed assistant to the Common Deputy. This was confirmed by the mayor of the capital, Eva de Anta, who pointed out that the City Council will take "some time to assess" who to appoint as a substitute.
Duque was a PSOE candidate for Congress in the last two elections, although without gaining access to this Chamber, and also ran in the PSOE primaries for the Arrecife City Council, in which José Montelongo won. Later, when Montelongo had to resign as mayor of Arrecife due to his indictment in the Montecarlo case and Eva de Anta assumed the Mayor's Office in 2016, Duque was appointed advisor to the PSOE City Council, a position of trust in which she has now ceased.
"I believe that opportunities pass once, much to my regret because for me she was a fundamental person in the team, in that advice. I always say that all mayors should have a lawyer for judicial and legal issues, especially in the Arrecife City Council, but I wish her all the luck in the world. And I have already told her that we will have constant collaboration and coordination between the Arrecife City Council and the Common Deputy," said Eva de Anta.
The mayor of Arrecife has congratulated Cristina Duque on her appointment and said she feels "very proud." "She has done an enormous job, of great value, and I believe that in the end the party takes these things into account, values them," she said.
